How and why peace can be taught in the classroom
The rise of aggression among our youth is of vital concern. Most programs that address this problem focus on self-control and conflict resolution. These programs are helpful, but they neglect the important skills needed for building peaceful relationships—kindness, forgiveness, compassion, and a deep respect for self and others.
Few teaching programs are available to help children systematically learn the higher-order values and behaviors that increase children’s abilities to live peacefully with others.

- Requires little preparation and allows for flexible use of materials

... includes 126 activities developed for children ages 6 to 11: 18 children’s books selected from a variety of authors, cultures, and traditions; a DVD containing movie clips; and a CD featuring original music.
